="margin-bottom: 0cm;">Globalisation in India has opened up an invasion of global capital on the natural resources.
="margin-bottom: 0cm;">Water, the source of life of all species, is being converted into a commodity. Rivers, wells, lakes and ground water resources are taken over by the global water commodity market. Local communities in various parts of the country have unleashed intense struggles against this invasion by the water corporate giants.
="margin-bottom: 0cm;">The struggles against the sale of rivers like Periyar, Bhavani, Sheonath, Kelo, Ganga canal and Malampuzha dam, the struggles against Coca Cola in Plachimada, Mehdiganj and Shivaganga and the struggle against the Interlinking of Rivers Project are some examples of popular resistance to preserve water as a common right.
